A&O HOSTELS ACQUIRES DOUBLETREE BY HILTON LONDON – DOCKLANDS RIVERSIDE

German hostel owner-operator A&O Hostels has acquired the former four-star, 378-room DoubleTree by Hilton London – Docklands Riverside in the UK. The property is situated in London’s Southwark borough by the River Thames, opposite Canary Wharf.

The property includes a restaurant, three bars, 13 meeting rooms and a private pier with an electric water taxi service to Canary Wharf that will be provided complimentary to guests. Starting in January 2026, A&O will invest some £21 million in phased renovations that are planned to increase the room count to 500 and the bed count to 2,100, with the hotel remaining open throughout. This will be the first A&O hostel in London. The group now operates 44 properties in Europe, totalling some 30,000 beds.
